Man’s ‘arched’ wooden door with ‘wooden’ tag on it caught fire

A man who was camping at a lodge near the Bering Sea in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands caught fire Monday, leaving him with injuries that required surgery, officials said.

Officials said the fire started around 6:30 a.m. in a man-made tree stand at the Yampa National Forest.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“This fire has taken a terrible toll on all involved, including the lodge,” Bering County Sheriff Mike Risbey said.

“The fire has been extinguished and no injuries have been reported.”

The fire burned on the east side of the lodge, Risbeck said.
