A wood accordion-style door will open on the first day of Christmas Eve on Capitol Hill, thanks to a gift from President Donald Trump.
The Capitol Police said on Twitter that they received a “thank you” note from Trump in the mail Monday afternoon, a day after the Capitol Police opened a Christmas tree for the first time in two years.
In the note, Trump wrote that the department “will open up a wood accordian-style Christmas tree on the Capitol Hill to welcome in new members.”
The Capitol police tweeted, “Thanks to President Trump for the gift of a wooden accordion Christmas tree.”
The door was first opened on Christmas Day and is now expected to open at 4 p.m. on Christmas night.
